I am a contemporary British artist of Ukrainian origin, known for my work with textiles, mixed media, and vibrant color compositions. I was born in 1966 in Kyiv, Ukraine, where my early interest in art led me to attend a specialized art school between 1978 and 1982. In 1986, I was admitted to the Kyiv National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, an institution that shaped my technical foundation and deepened my understanding of form, composition, and artistic expression.
Between 1989 and 2001, I worked at the architectural and design studio Pimiento de Gala Ltd. This period had a lasting influence on my artistic approach. The discipline of architectural thinking, the precision of design, and the study of structural relationships allowed me to refine my aesthetic sensibilities. These experiences later became essential to the development of my own artistic language, which draws upon the intersection of material experimentation, spatial awareness, and graphic composition.
After relocating to the United Kingdom, I dedicated myself fully to my independent artistic practice. Over time, I developed a distinctive creative direction under the identity Silkpolyesterart. My work is rooted in the use of unconventional materials, particularly silk, polyester, and layered textiles. I combine these with original graphic elements and painterly techniques to create works that exist between painting, textile art, and sculptural form. Working with silk allows me to explore transparency, texture, and depth, creating surfaces that shift between structure and fluidity.
My compositions often emerge as kaleidoscopic landscapes of color, shaped by intuition and introspection. Dreams, memory, imagination, and the shifting line between fantasy and reality are recurring themes in my work. I aim to create pieces that invite contemplation, encouraging viewers to enter a dialogue with both the visual surface and the emotional undercurrents beneath it. Through color, texture, and rhythm, I explore the subtle dynamics of the inner world.
Throughout my career, I have been honored to receive multiple certificates from the Luxembourg Art Prize, a recognition that affirms my dedication to artistic innovation and craftsmanship. My works are presented on international platforms such as Saatchi Art, Singulart, and Artmajeur, reaching collectors and audiences around the world.
I currently live and work in Bognor Regis, West Sussex, United Kingdom. My studio is a space of continuous experimentation, where I combine traditional techniques with contemporary materials in pursuit of new visual possibilities. My goal is to push the boundaries of textile and mixed-media art, creating works that are both technically refined and emotionally resonant. Through constant exploration, I strive to contribute a distinctive voice to the broader landscape of contemporary art.
